Summer Bay Adventures Await Local Students at UMCES Horn Point Laboratory |

Cambridge, Md. (February 26, 2008) – Throughout the summer, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Horn Point Laboratory will again offer one-week education programs for students entering kindergarten through eighth grades in the Fall of 2008. The Kids’ Bay Adventures program consists of five one-week sessions on different environmental topics that run from June 16 through July 18. Children are given the opportunity to have fun in the outdoors, while learning about science in their own backyard. Choptank Discoveries, Wetland Wonders and Junior Scientist are just a few of the programs offered. Two new sessions are being added this year including a Science Detectives program for first and second grade students and an Environmental Issues program designed for fifth through eighth graders. Craft projects, games and other activities are included as part of the educational experience. |

Scholarships are available for Dorchester County students based on financial need. Those students who qualify for F.A.R.M. (Free and Reduced Meals) may apply. These scholarships are available through a generous donation from Cambridge VFW Post 7460. A registration Open House will be held March 5 and 6, 2008 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Horn Point Laboratory Environmental Science Education Center at 2020 Horns Point Road in Cambridge.
