The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy, established by the Oceans Act of 2000 and composed of 16 individuals appointed by the President, is undertaking a study to make recommendations to the President and Congress for a national ocean policy for the United States.  I served as a member of the Commission's Scientific Advisory Panel.

In addition, at the request of the Commission, I made a presentation to the Commission at its Southeastern Regional meeting in Charleston, S.C. on the topic of nutrient pollution.

The Preliminary Report of the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy was released on April 20, 2004 for comment by the nation's governors.
