UMCES Researchers Participate on Governor’s Transition Team

Annapolis, Md. (February 23, 2007)– Throughout January, researchers from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science worked with environmental and natural resources experts from across the state to help develop environmental policy guidance for Governor Martin O’Malley’s Transition Team.

The Center’s expertise was represented on several subcommittees supporting the Environmental and Natural Resources Workgroup. UMCES President Donald Boesch co-chaired the Coordinating Subcommittee while Dr. Margaret Palmer, UMCES’ Chesapeake Biological Laboratory Director, co-chaired the Natural Resources and Environmental Planning Subcommittee.

The transition team called on UMCES expertise to support the development of policy initiatives tackling air and water pollution, climate change, natural resources planning, living resources management, communications and finance and budget management.
