We are at a remarkable time for environmental science. As a society, we have arrived at a unique point where the nation’s environmental consciousness has reached a new plateau and the long-term health of our natural world is at the forefront of the minds of state, national and global leaders.
As one of the oldest environmental research institutions in the nation, UMCES plays a unique role in providing the scientific foundation underlying this national dialogue. Whether through our involvement on national and international advisory boards or through programs taking place within the State of Maryland, the Center constantly strives to make sound science the basis for sound public policy.
