Responsibilities: Hourly position (20-40 hrs/week) in oceanographic-oriented laboratory for Arctic macrobenthic taxonomic determinations. Duties include rough sorting and identifying preserved marine invertebrates to a basic level using a dissecting microscope, with an opportunity to develop faunal identification skills during the course of work.
Qualifications: College-level background in marine ecology, invertebrate zoology, oceanography, marine science, or other relevant natural science field with experience using a dissecting microscope and use of laboratory scales. The successful applicant will work with the experienced benthic sorters in the laboratory in a group setting. Familiarity with general laboratory research equipment and an ability and interest in developing taxonomic skills through maintenance of a learning notebook of the animals being sorted is desirable.
Salary: Hourly salary is commensurate with education and experience.
