Elissa is the Executive Assistant to the Director for the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL). It was her professional administrative, managerial, and computer skills that brought her to CBL. Her responsibilities include administrative support for faculty hire, evaluation, promotion and retention, report preparation for Director on faculty performance (grants, publications, products, teaching and mentoring), maintains approvals of faculty and staff time sheets, oversee foundation accounts including verifying balances and transactions, account balances for student awardees, approve travel forms on foundation accounts, serve as secretary for faculty and academic council meetings, updates website on seminars and faculty handbook, creates CBL monthly newsletter, manages Director's travel and CBL meetings including scheduling rooms, catering, and room set up along with IV needs. In addition to these responsibilities, Elissa serves as a member of the Univeristy of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Staff Council. Prior to working at the Chesapeake Biolgoical Labratory Center for Environmental Science, Elissa was employed with Calvert County Public Schools for ten years in administrative and management responsibilities and served as an assistant to the Director of Instruction her last three years with the school system. She received Support Staff of the Year (2012) and the Eagle Award for Southern Middle School of Calvert County, Maryland. While working full-time Elissa pursued and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Managment and a certificate in Project Management (2015) by attending the University of Maryland University College.
