Environmental Data Manager
The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Sciences, Horn Point Laboratory is seeking an independent and motivated individual to design and manage infrastructure for storing, analyzing and synthesizing environmental data. Duties will include design of databases and web interfaces to assist in the analysis of diverse types of environmental data from sensor deployments, lab experiments and field campaigns. Strong communication skills are required, as the database manager will work closely with investigators on a variety of projects to determine database needs, and support investigators in developing appropriate forms for data formatting and storage. A willingness to learn the types of data and formats utilized in the environmental sciences fields is required.
Technical skills should include experience with design and maintenance of relational database management systems as well as programming languages such as PHP, Python, R and Matlab. Expertise with software or data access and manipulation systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, GIS,Live Access Server is preferred.Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position is full-time and includes benefits.
