Mary Ann Manley honored with the UMCES Staff Excellence Award

For 36 years, Mary Ann Manley provided exemplary service to the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and Horn Point Laboratory community through her work as a Program Management Specialist in the Horn Point business office. She was a leader in demonstrating teamwork among her colleagues and her exemplary performance consistently demonstrated a high level of commitment to UMCES.

Salt Contamination of Drinking Water is a growing threat at home and globally

Access to clean and safe drinking water is critical to public health and economic prosperity. About 70% of U.S. drinking water supply comes from surface waters, including the tidal fresh regions of estuaries. This is under threat due to climate change, salinization and human pressures. Led by Professor Ming Li, UMCES-HPL, an interdisciplinary team will examine risks and knowledge gaps on this growing threat.

USM Chancellor appoints Bill Dennison to serve as UMCES interim president

As a leadership transition approaches for fall 2023 at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), University System of Maryland (USM) Chancellor Jay A. Perman has appointed longtime UMCES vice president Bill Dennison as interim president, effective Sept. 25.
