Standard Consultation Fees

Statistics is an important tool for strengthening the analyses and reporting of observational and experimental studies (ASA, STROBE). The ESC encourages academic, government, non-profit, and commercial clients to utilize our services. The ESC also invites investigators to include statistical consulting as an item in their research plan and budget. In the preparation stage of a grant proposal, we can provide help with the writing of statistical components, including modeling framework, sampling concern, and future analysis and interpretation of the data. To encourage clients who seek our help with grant applications, we may be able to offer a few additional hours at no charge. Investigators wishing to discuss the preparation of their grant proposals and the associated rates should contact the ESC by submitting a Consultation Request.

Statistical consulting is provided for free when directly related to a MEES student's thesis or dissertation. For research project, the first hour of initial consultation is offered free of charge. After this, our service is available on a fee-for-service basis to defray the cost of operating the ESC. The rate is set in fraction of a day or the four-hour block and varies depending on the client, as shown below (effective July 1, 2018):

Client Rate per hour
UMCES internal $75
State clients $105
External clients (including federal) $115
