Course Goals

  • Provide a rich learning environment through projects, lectures, readings, discussions for students and instructors
  • Stimulate improvement in analytical and communication skills
  • Inspire good science that serves to enhance environmental problem solving

Approaches Used

  • Case studies ; provide diversity of in depth case studies to develop a more expansive view of environmental management
  • Practitioner perspectives ; provide an exchange that allows students to engage with people that have very different perspectives
  • Student projects ; develop specific recommendations on developing best practice environmental management using synthesis and science communication skills
  • Lectures ; focus on coastal management tools and techniques, based on experience
