Seasonal Lab Technician

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Appalachian Laboratory has an opening for a part-time lab assistant to work in the Water Chemistry Laboratories.  Job responsibilities will include water sample processing, sample analysis using wet chemistry techniques, and possibly field sampling. This is a temporary position expected to begin in February 2019 and end in December 2019 with the potential for extension contingent upon funding.   The position will be for approximately 20-30 hours per week, depending on sample volume, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with some scheduling flexibility following completion of the orientation process.

Position Requirements:  A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a field of science is preferred.  Current undergraduate students studying a field of science with flexible class schedules are also qualified.  Additionally, the ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift loads of at least 30 pounds are required.  Applicants with prior analytical laboratory experience or a professional or educational background in environmental science will be given additional consideration.
