\n\n\n Presented by Dr. Mario Tamburri\n\n\n\nInvasive species introductio
ns\, through the release of ship’s ballast water\, have enormous ecologica
l and economic impacts on coastal waters around the world\, including the
Chesapeake Bay.  While national and international ballast water discharge
regulations have been established to minimize risks\, rigorous implementat
ion of these rules is needed if we are to meet their goals.  Dr. Tamburri
will discuss how CBL research is addressing the issue of ballast water inv
asive species and the successful implementation of complex environmental r
 egulations.\n\nCBL’s Bernie Fowler Laboratory\n142 Williams Street\n\nSolo

\n\n \n\n\nJoin us at the oldest state-supported marine lab o
n the East Coast to learn about innovative research being pioneered by CBL
scientists.  Our faculty and graduate students are developing new approac
hes to solving the environmental management problems facing Calvert County
\, our nation\, and the world. Each talk will be presented by an UMCES sci
entist and will inform the public about a featured research effort.  \n\n
