\nClimate Impacts on Golden Tilefish: Past and Present\n\nPRESENTED BY DR.
  GENNY NESSLAGE\n\n\n\nGolden tilefish is a large\, bottom-dwelling marine
fish that is particularly susceptible to climate change because it can to
lerate only a very narrow range of temperatures. In 1882\, millions of gol
den tilefish died in a sudden mortality event caused by an unusually stron
g influx of arctic water into the Mid-Atlantic. Since then\, scientists ha
ve been fascinated with the relationship between ocean conditions and tile
fish dynamics. In this seminar\, Dr. Genny Nesslage will describe past and
present research on the linkage between climate and trends in the golden
tilefish fishery.\n\n\n\nCost: Free\nWhere: ZOOM Webinar - you will receiv
 e a participant link after registering\nPre-Registration Required: https:/
/www.usmf.org/s4c/\nWho: Members of the general public. No scientific back
ground needed\; everyone is welcome!\n\n\n\nPlease note that this seminar
will be hosted as Zoom Webinars only. Out of an abundance of caution relat
ed to the COVID-19 coronavirus\, there will be no in-person attendance opp
ortunity.\n\n\n\nThis seminar is presented as a part of the Chesapeake Bio
logical Laboratory’s Science for Communities Seminar Series.  These public
programs invite the community to discover how our scientists are developi
ng new approaches to solving the environmental challenges facing Southern
Maryland\, our nation\, and the world.\n\n\n	View the complete Science for
Communities Seminar schedule.\n	Learn more about the Virtual Science Semest
