 \n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n \n\n\nJoin us on Thursday\
, April 28\, at 6:30pm for the next virtual event in the Appalachian Labor
atory’s Watershed Moments Community Learning Series. Dr. Nicolas Zegre of
the Mountain Hydrology Laboratory at West Virginia University will present
\, “Appalachian Water Security – Impacts and opportunities of a changing c
limate.”\n\n\n\nClimate change has emerged as one of the greatest challeng
es for humanity in the 21st century\, with the strategic importance of wat
er resources expected to intensify as warming produces more frequent and i
ntense extreme events that disrupt day-to-day life. While climate change p
oses significant risks to already stressed and vulnerable communities\, ec
osystems\, and economies throughout the central Appalachian Mountains regi
on\, it also provides opportunities for reshaping the region by rethinking
our relationship to water\, natural resources\, and the economy. This pre
sentation will explore the hidden role of water in our lives\, what climat
e change and its impacts look like throughout the region\, and discusses o
pportunities to reshape our future based on sustainable and just practices
.  \n\n\n\nThis virtual event is free and open to the public\, although re
gistration is required: REGISTER NOW. Once registered\, attendees will rec
eive an email with Zoom access instructions for the event. \n\n\n\nContact
