       \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n Background\n
   \n \n\n \n\n \n\n\nThis webinar is part of a project sp
onsored by the Inter-American Development Bank’s Amazonia Forever program.
The project is entitled Innovation and Science for the Operationalization
of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus within the Framework of the Amazon Regiona
l Observatory. This project is focused on the development and application
of modelling tools in an integrated multi-sectoral planning process based
on the water-energy-food nexus approach.\n\n\n\nThe objective of this proj
ect is to operationalize an integrated water-energy-food nexus modeling to
ol(s) that allows the exploration of different physical and socioeconomic
scenarios in the entire Amazon basin. This project leverages the experienc
e acquired and efforts made by the Bank and client countries in areas such
as water\, agriculture and land use\, energy and climate change.\n\n\n\nT
he knowledge and tools developed through this project will support an inte
grated\, multi-sectoral (nexus) approach to policy development and investm
ent in the Amazon Basin. This will promote coherent\, collaborative enviro
nmental governance to understand tradeoffs and maximize synergies and co-b
enefits while minimizing vulnerabilities\, risks\, and unintended conseque
nces. This capacity is needed to address priority regional transboundary p
roblems in the Amazon Basin such as the lack of integrated water resources
management\, water pollution\, biodiversity loss\, effects of extreme hyd
roclimatic events\, and land use change\, among other issues.\n\n \n
 \n\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n Objectives of the Webina
 r\n \n \n\n \n\n \n\n\nThis webinar will illustr
ate and provide hands-on the operationalization of the water-energy-food n
exus model developed for the Amazon River Basin through interactive visual
ization dashboards. The main objective of this webinar is to collect input
from participants to improve these operational dashboards.\n\n\n\nSpecifi
cally\, the webinar will focus on capacity building of analytical capabili
ties to address the following challenges that were identified in consultat
ion with ACTO Member Countries:\n\n\n	Water balance across the Amazon water
shed sub-basins.\n	Ecological flow rates and their role in the water balanc
e.\n	Water quality dashboard.\n	Impact of nexus intervention types: hydropow
 er\, irrigation\, reforestation.\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n
 \n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n
   \n\n\n Expected Outcomes\n \n \n\n \n\n
\n\n\nThe expectation is that\, by the end of the webinar\, partici
pants will have strengthened their skills and abilities\, especially in:\n
\n\n	Understand the scope of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus modeling activitie
s in the basin\, specifically the implementation of the HydroBID-WHATIF ((
nexus) model.\n	Provide input to the process of improvement of the operatio
nal visualization dashboards of the nexus model.\n	Promote the participatio
n in the discussions and analyses that will be carried out in the tasks in
cluded in the Project's Work Plan.\n	Gain experience in the use of the oper
ationalized nexus model through a participatory and inclusive process of d
 iscussion and analysis.\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n
  \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n
              Registration\, Meeting Link\, Language and Certification\n
        \n \n\n \n\n \n\n\nRegistration is closed. You may
watch the recorded webinar here. Passcode: 4vz@EtIN\n\n\n\nThe webinar wi
ll have simultaneous translation into English and Spanish.\n\n\n\nUMCES wi
ll issue certificates of participation to registered participants.\n\n
   \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n
 \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n Agenda\n \n
   \n\n \n\n \n\n\nThe Technical Webinar will have a durati
on of 90 minutes\, with the following sessions:\n\n\n\nWebinar Opening and
Introduction of Presenters (10 min)\n\n\n	Workshop Opening (IADB)\n	Introdu
ction of Nexus Team Specialists\n\n\n\n\nNexus Readiness Exercise (Interac
tive) (5 min)\n\n\n\nNexus Model Operationalization Results and Discussion
(15 min)\n\n\n	Introduction to the Nexus project background and objectives
\n	Nexus model operationalization approach: introduction\, basic principles
\, application(s) and limitations - considerations for its implementation
in the Amazon River Basin\n	Nexus model operationalization results: dashboa
rd design\, software needed\, navigation\, analysis and interpretation of
model results.\n	Process of identification of new analytical needs and impl
ementation in the nexus model dashboards.\n\n\n\n\nHands-on exercises usin
g the Nexus Model Dashboards (60 min)\n\n\n\nThis hands-on session will fo
cus on the use of the model dashboards to generate results that can be use
d to identify and prioritize policy and infrastructure needs for water-ene
rgy-food nexus issues in the Amazon Basin under three development narrativ
es: Business-As-Usual\, Extractive and Sustainable\, explored with the use
of the Nexus Dashboards currently operationalized through ACTO’s Amazon R
egional Observatory.\n\n\n\nModerated discussion on the use of the operati
onalized Nexus model (20 min)\n\n\n\nBased on the experienced obtained usi
ng the operationalized Nexus modeling dashboards\, participants will be en
couraged to share their feedback\, vision of other challenges and opportun
ities of the Nexus approach and modeling tools for the Amazon River Basin.
This discussion will be live using prompted questions in interactive form
at\, plus oral discussions.\n\n\n\nClosure Discussion on the Project’s Wor
k Plan and Next Steps (10 min)\n\n\n\nThis session will consist of a prese
ntation of the next stages involved in the Nexus project and a preview of
