\n\nPresented by Dr. Michael Gonsior\nWhile there is widespread evidence s
upporting our understanding of how traditional septic systems transmit nit
rogen to groundwater\, very little of this work has occurred in Maryland a
nd how much of nitrogen is released by septic systems to the stream networ
k and ultimately to the Chesapeake Bay remains a challenging question to a
nswer. Dr. Gonsior will discuss methods for source tracking of pollutants
arising from septic systems using innovative modern analytical approaches.
 \n\n\n\nWhere: CBL’s Bernie Fowler Lab\, 142 Williams Street\, Solomons\,
 MD 20688. View a campus map.\nCost: Free. No pre-registration necessary. S
eating is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.\nWho: Members of
the general public. No scientific background needed\; everyone is welcome
!\nWhy: Learn something new and interesting while celebrating science on s
cenic Solomons Island\n\n\n\nThis seminar is presented as a part of the Ch
esapeake Biological Laboraotyr's Science for Citizens Seminar Series.  The
se public seminars invite the community to discover how our scientists are
developing new approaches to solving the environmental challenges facing
Southern Maryland\, our nation\, and the world. View the complete Spring 2
