     \n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n \n\n\nMounting scienti
fic evidence confirms what many conservationists have suspected for some t
ime—that in the United States alone\, free-ranging cats are killing birds
and other animals by the billions. Equally alarming are the little-known b
ut potentially devastating public health consequences of rabies and parasi
tic Toxoplasma passing from cats to humans at rising rates. \n\n\n\nMarra
will discuss his new book 'Cat Wars: The Devastating Consequences of a Cud
dly Killer\,'co-written with Chris Santella\, presenting data on the threa
ts free-ranging cats pose to biodiversity and public health throughout the
world and shedding new light on the controversies surrounding the managem
ent of the explosion of these cat populations. He will paint a revealing p
icture of a complex global problem—and propose solutions that foresee a ti
me when wildlife and humans are no longer vulnerable to the impacts of fre
e-ranging cats\n\n\n\nWatershed Moments events are free and open to the pu
blic.  Seating is available on a first-come\, first served basis. \n\n\n\n
