\n\n\nAlthough bats provide a number of beneficial services-
from eating insects\, to pollinating plants and spreading seeds\, to prov
iding the inspiration for advances in sonar and airplane navigation- many
of us still view them as the dirty carriers of disease or the mythical sym
bols of darkness and danger.\n\n\n\nJoin us at the Appalachian Laboratory
on Thursday\, October 24\, at 6:30pm\, to kick off international “Bat Week
.” The Appalachian Laboratory’s Juliet Nagel and the Maryland Department o
f Natural Resource’s Dan Feller will share the facts about bats and update
us on the latest bat research in Maryland and beyond.  Join us to learn m
ore about these fascinating\, beneficial\, and myth-understood creatures!
\n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public.  Seating is available o
n a first-come\, first-served basis.  For more information on the Watershe
d Moments series\, visit the series website.
