Yesenia is a Science Communication Intern with the Integration and Application Network in Annapolis, MD. Her primary focus is on providing general support to Science Communicators, mainly through graphic design and content review. Yesenia earned an Sc.B. in Environmental Science with a focus on Conservation Science and Policy from Brown University in Dec. 2017. Passionate about tropical ecology, her senior thesis documented birds' uphill movement in response to climate change in Costa Rica's Monteverde Cloud Forest. Her other research experiences include climbing trees in Monteverde to study epiphytic plant distributions, mistnetting wild bats and working with captive vampire bats to study their cognitive ecology in Panama, and fogging trees in Malaysian Borneo to study changes in canopy ant communities associated with agriculture. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in conservation biology in the near future.
