The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) is seeking applicants for an entry level technician position at the Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) in Cambridge MD.
The position will be a full-time Faculty Research Assistant (FRA level 1) with salary and benefits (MS degree required). Funding is currently available for 12-14 months with the possibility of additional time. Duties will revolve around the development and application of a coupled physical-biogeochemical model in Long Island Sound. This will involve working in a UNIX operating system, carrying out code modifications in FORTRAN and analyzing model output using MATLAB software. The successful applicant will have the ability to work as part of a team, have scheduling flexibility for traveling to project meetings in New York, and will enjoy working on computational problems. Previous experience in some of the above scientific activities is desirable.
