Bio
A lifelong champion for environmenal awareness and climate justice, Emily has worked at UMCES in the communications department, aiding in educating the public on scientific revelations made by UMCES through social media, press releases and website features. Growing up in Puerto Rico fueled her love for the environment and animals. Coupled with curiousity, she began her scientific journey early, taking any opportunity she could to be outdoors learning and exploring.
She has her Bachelors degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Lafayette College, where she took a hands on approach to scientific discovery, working in the field on ecosystem restoration and conservation. Throughout her time in college and post grad career she focused her efforts on expanding her scientific skills, working in environments ranging from the woodland forest of Pennsylvania to the dry savanah in Tanzania to the humid tropical rainforests in Puerto Rico.
