Open House returns to the Horn Point Laboratory with largest attendance ever

Nearly 700 visitors came out to experience the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science’s Horn Point Laboratory Open House on Saturday, October 15, the most in its history. Hands-on exhibits, the oyster hatchery, a sturgeon exhibit, and cutting-edge marine equipment were all part of the experience for visitors.

First-of-its-kind database tracks agricultural phosphorus use world-wide

Researchers from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science have released a first-of-its-kind study quantifying cropland phosphorus budgets around the world, which will help in identifying nutrient management gaps in different regions in food production and consumption systems. This new database will help countries and regions to evaluate their performances in addressing phosphorus pollution and scarcity challenges, and guide actions towards a more sustainable future.

Cambridge’s Cannery Park receives a sustainable gift from Horn Point Laboratory students

Horn Point students and Cambridge City Officials dedicated a bench made of 100% recycled plastics that students donated to Cannery Park. Students spearheaded a campus wide recycling program to collect 120 pounds of bottle caps for Eco Plastics of Delaware to produce the bench.
