As part of Chesapeake Week, Maryland Public Television will broadcast its annual Chesapeake Bay Summit, a discussion about climate change and sea level rise and its potential impact on the Chesapeake Bay and Marylanders.
This year’s one-hour forum looks at the impact of climate change and sea-level rise in the Chesapeake Bay. The discussion will tackle questions including:
- What scientific evidence is being seen for climate change in the bay?
- What do experts believe will happen to the bay’s fragile ecosystem as the water warms?
Host Frank Sesno (former CNN correspondent, anchor and Washington Bureau chief anddirector of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University) will drive this conversation with some of the nation’s foremost experts on these topics. Scheduled panelists are: Dr. Peter Goodwin, president of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science; Astrid Caldas, senior climate scientist for the Union of Concerned Scientists; Ben Grumbles, secretary of the Maryland Department of the Environment and chairman for the state’s Climate Change Commission; Tom Horton, writer, author, professor, and filmmaker; Skip Stiles, executive director of Wetlands Watch, Norfolk, Virginia; and Sean Sublette, meteorologist for Climate Center in Princeton, New Jersey.
