Hangaza, a group of more than 150,000 people
who live along Lake Victoria, west of Tanzania's
Serengeti National Park. The proverb rings true: floating
on the water won't tell you what is going on below.
Half a world away from Tanzania, along the United
States West Coast, oceanographers are finding new ways
of looking beneath research vessels that ply the Pacific.
