UMCES Laboratory Safety

UMCES is committed to providing a healthy and safe Research Laboratory environment for faculty, staff, students, visitors, and volunteers in all sites owned, operated, or controlled by the University. This commitment includes: 

  • Observing and following health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations (MOSH, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, NRC, MDE, AND DOT);
  • Participating in mandatory health and safety training;
  • Promptly reporting all safety and health hazards or violations and on-site incidents, injuries, and environmental illnesses; and
  • Giving due consideration to personal safety and the safety of others while performing assigned tasks.
