Cambridge’s Cannery Park receives a sustainable gift from Horn Point Laboratory students

Horn Point students and Cambridge City Officials dedicated a bench made of 100% recycled plastics that students donated to Cannery Park. Students spearheaded a campus wide recycling program to collect 120 pounds of bottle caps for Eco Plastics of Delaware to produce the bench.

Alan William's research focuses on measuring how clouds of underwater mud, silt, and clay that form when the sediment is disturbed, called suspended sediment plumes, within oyster leases are reduced with improvements to oyster aquaculture technology, specifically when dredges are replaced with submerged, remote operated vehicles, or ROVs.

Significant increase in freshwater entering Arctic Ocean through Bering Strait

A new study has confirmed that over the past 30 years the volume of freshwater flowing through Bering Strait into the Arctic Ocean has increased by 40-50%, which means that the Arctic Ocean is becoming less salty. This could impact sea ice formation, regional and global ocean circulation, and ecosystems.
