Seminar description:
Collaborative problem solving in natural resources is challenging because of conflicting values, uncertain knowledge, and the time required for effective communication. But application of decision analysis and structured decision making in collaborative settings can help find ways for human activity and ecological processes to coexist by identifying durable and optimal solutions.  In this talk, I discuss collaborative decision-making processes at the interface of conflict resolution and decision analysis as applied to natural resource management. I illustrate the processes with examples and present a series of key considerations useful for preparing a group for successful collaborative decision making.
