Appalachian Laboratory scientists receive highest university award

The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents has selected two faculty members from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science—Dr. Keith Eshleman and Dr. Andrew Elmore­—to receive the 2014 USM Regents’ Faculty Award, the highest honor that the Board bestows to recognize exemplary faculty achievement. This is the first time that two of the Center’s faculty members have been honored in the same year.

Maryland Sea Grant Announces New Projects to Study Water Quality, Fisheries

Maryland Sea Grant has awarded grants to scientists at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science for studies that could help improve and sustain the Chesapeake Bay’s water quality and fisheries.

Nevada Division of Environmental Protection: Lake Tahoe conceptual diagrams

Project Dates : March 01, 2013 - December 31, 2014
Degradation of nearshore quality is a primary concern of Lake Tahoe’s residents and stakeholders. Issues impacting the nearshore environment include visible algal growth as well as the establishment and threat of aquatic invasive species. 

This project seeks to improve the effectiveness of communicating the results and findings of the Evaluation of Nearshore Ecology and Aesthetics Project to informed stakeholders, the general public, and the science community.

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley signed an agreement with Rio de Janeiro Governor Sergio Cabral Filho to share best practices for keeping the Chesapeake Bay and Rio’s Guanabara Bay clean, healthy, and sustainable.
