Bio
Paleena Amy is a Faculty Research Assistant supporting multiple labs across Horn Point’s campus. An eastern shore native, she graduated from Washington College with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and Physics in 2023. She began working at HPL with Tom Fisher, Judy O’Neill, and Anne Gustafson to complete the laboratory components to their EPA-funded project: “Continuing Nutrient and Light Limitation Assessments in the Chesapeake Bay.” After two years of gaining valuable laboratory management skills and bioassay experiment protocol, she now contributes to projects within the laboratories of Javier Lloret, Lorie Staver, Jacob Cram, and Analytical Services. Whether it is collecting field samples in marshes or SAV beds, extracting chla or oyster larvae DNA samples, processing and analyzing data, or keeping up with administrative tasks, Paleena is prepared and devoted to the research endeavors pursued by UMCES.
