Bio
Mike Allen is the Interim Director and Associate Director for Research and Administration at the Maryland Sea Grant. With nearly 15 years of coastal and marine science leadership, he oversees research planning, competitive grant portfolios, multidisciplinary fellowships, and education and engagement programs focused on coastal resilience, aquaculture, fisheries, and ecosystem health in Maryland. As Associate Director, he is responsible for oversight and performance of the joint operations of the Maryland Sea Grant business and research offices, including contracts and grants management, office financial and budgetary matters, human resources and personnel, and office operations. Mike previously served as a Sea Grant Knauss Fellow and federal contractor with NOAA. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University.
