Annapolis, MD – “Policy formed using the best available science has been at the center of the long term upward trajectory of the Chesapeake Bay’s health and economic vitality. The science is clear: the Chesapeake Bay is at a critical moment and the model of science-guided partnership between the federal government, state governments, and nonprofit organizations is working.
University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science will continue to use our research to strengthen these collaborations. The need for partnerships that include scientists and ecological forecasting is as urgent now as it was when the first Chesapeake Bay agreement was signed in 1983. We urge the community to not take the foot off the accelerator, but instead double down on community-engaged projects that seek to integrate the best scientific knowledge as a core principle.”
