USM Board of Regents Staff Award
The Council of University System Staff (CUSS) coordinates the USM Board of Regents Staff Awards each year. The Board of Regents' USM Staff Awards represents the highest honor bestowed by the Board of Regents for achievements of Exempt and Nonexempt Staff employees from institutions within the University System of Maryland. The awards are presented to individual Staff employees who have demonstrated excellence.
Awards are given in the following five award categories listed below.
Exceptional Contribution to the Institution and/or Unit to Which the Person Belongs
Outstanding Service to Students in an Academic or Residential Environment
Extraordinary Public Service to the University or Greater Community
Effectiveness and Efficiency
Inclusion, Multiculturalism, and Social Justice
There are two awards given per category - one for an Exempt Staff employee and one for a Non-exempt Staff employee. In the Effectiveness and Efficiency category an award can be given to two exempt or two nonexempt staff employees or one exempt and one nonexempt. Each award is accompanied by a $2,000.00 stipend and a plaque of recognition.

UMCES Staff Excellence Award
A Staff Council initiative, approved by the Administrative Council, this award represents an honor bestowed by the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) for achievements of Exempt and Nonexempt Staff. The award is presented to an individual Staff member who consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment and dedication to UMCES, has a positive impact on their work environment, is flexible and demonstrate cooperation and collaboration among their peers and supervisor while carrying out their job duties.
Any employee may nominate another employee, employees may also nominate themselves.
Nominee must be a staff employee of the UMCES community, including all staff employees in Regular and Contingent II status.
Nominee must have been employed ta UMCES for at least two (2) consecutive years.
Members of the Executive Council are not eligible.
