Rosemary Jagus

A native of Swanwick, Derbyshire, England, Dr. Rosemary Jagus received her B.Sc. from the University College of North Wales, Bangor, U.K., graduating summa cum laude and subsequently obtained her Ph.D. from University College, London, U.K.  Dr. Jagus began her work with the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland in 1990. She assumed her present position in 2010 as Associate Professor for the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET). In 2002 Dr. Jagus was also appointed Project Director, LMRCSC-COMB/IMET and Director of COMB/IMET LMRCSC-supported minority summer internship program, which she presently continues.

Her current areas of interest include: translational control of eukaryotic gene expression, zebrafish, dinoflagellate, diversity of eukaryotic translation machinery, use of zebrafish as model system for innate response to disease, and development and use of in vitro translation systems.
