Using Technology to Save Jaguars
Jaguar populations are shrinking globally. As evolving technology brings new tools to researchers, monitoring rare and Elusive species such as Jaguar has gotten a lot more effective. using video sound and DNA we can detect and track individual animals, but also the entire ecosystems that they live in.
Cell Phones and Sturgeon
Although a tough animal to find, the endangered Atlantic sturgeon is vulnerable to shipping traffic and a changing climate. I'll discuss a near real-time system for alerting of sturgeon and forecasting of spawning in Eastern Shore’s Nanticoke River.
