Bio

I grew up just outside of Philadelphia, but I spent every summer as a child on the Eastern Shore sailing and growing my love for the water on the Chesapeake. During my undergraduate years at Rutgers University, I worked primarily with underwater gliders in the Mid-Atlantic, but also dabbled in fish ecology in Mongolia and spent the winter before graduate school working with phytoplankton on an LTER cruise in Antarctica. Now, returning to Eastern Shore to start my graduate work at HPL ,I have decided to tie together my love for hands-on research with physiological ecology to better understand how oysters interact with their environment. My research is tied together with the Shellfish Aquaculture Innovation Lab (SAIL), which is implementing the use of recirculating aquaculture systems to explore alternative growing practices for shellfish.
