Bio
Born and raised in Ithaca, NY.
Attended U.C. San Diego for two years and was on the Men’s Varsity Rowing team there before transferring to the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where I majored in environmental biology. Took a particular interest in the aquatic sciences and microbiology. Graduated with a 3.7 GPA, received the Bill Shields Award for research on wetland ectomycorrhizal fungi, and gained a variety of field and laboratory experiences through classes, internships, and research assitantships.
Growing up, my grandma taught me how to oil-paint, and my mother, an avid lover of art, always encouraged me to take art classes. I have thus accumulated an informal art education over the years that spans a variety of mediums, and was able to apply this background to class-projects throughout the scientific curriculum at SUNY ESF. At IAN, I have largely been using Adobe Illustrator to make scientific-diagrams that convey complex scientific concepts. Check out my Instagram or LinkedIn for pictures of my work or for a more detailed background of my education and work history.
